Stuck in my Chakras

Posted on Nov 18th, 2007 by Serendipity : Wonderer Serendipity

Yoga teacher training is all about the chakras right now.  We've been doing lots of exercises on the lower chakras.  That's a scary place for me to be.  I've got issues.  Lots and lots of issues.  Now the challenge is to fix them.  I don't know where to start.  At the bottom, I guess.

I had some minor surgery this past week.  Not a big deal, except I have stitches in my groin area.  The stitches really limited the yoga poses I could do.  The asanas I had to skip were my favorite asanas, too.  These are the poses I feel most comfortable and confident in.  I was lost today.  I wasn't at peace with my body.  I felt like it was betraying me, letting me down.  My mind was everywhere except on my mat.

So now I have to get back on my mat, slowly, and try to find my center while I'm healing.  It is a different approach to yoga for me.  I am used to pushing my body, seeing how much it can do.  Now I have to be gentle with my body, have respect for it's limitations.  My teacher often talks about how humbling yoga can be.  I am getting a good dose of humility this weekend.

Hang in there – it's only temporary.  Your body will heal.  Use this time to pamper yourself.  You know you have the discipline to push yourself again once your body is healed.  Take advantage of this time to be good to yourself.  Have a blessed week!
